A Bit of History
Jazz musicians way back in the 1920's first had the idea to amplify ordinary hollowed out guitars. Innovators at the time such as Les Paul began to develop solid body guitars. In 1936 Gibson had commercial success when they introduced the ES-150. The other big name in guitar history was Leo Fender, a radio repair man, who created the Fender Stratocaster in 1954. The rest as they say is history and today most electric guitars are still based on classic designs like the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Strat.
